| Other | Dr. S.A. Tilford died at 1:50 A.M. Sunday, and his wife died at 8:00 P.M. the same day. Salem A. Tilford was born in Jefferson County, Indiana. Came to Martinsville in March 1848. He was twice married, first to Emaline Major, a sister of Noah J. Major [married on Nov. 28, 1849], but she only lived 4 years...They had one child, Ella, who died in California a few years ago. The second marriage was to Miss Ann Wolf, daughter of Jacob Wolf, of Sullivan, Indiana. They were married in 1857 [on April 1, in Bloomington] and to them were born 11 children, all of whom survive except one. In 1870, he was the Morgan County Auditor. |
