"Mrs. Mary Duke was born in Virginia, January 21st, 1796, and died at the residence of her son, Jas. Duke. She was united in marriage at the age of 18 to George Duke. He died six years ago. They had three sons, John, James, and Jacob (only James survives), and two daughters, Martha and Mary, with only Martha surviving. They moved to Johnson County in 1830."
