He was known forty or fifty years ago as Dr. Moon. He lived three miles east of Gasburg, in the Bethel neighborhood." [From the Diary of Elam Harvey for Nov. 30, 1878: "Uncle Simon Moon died this afternoon with a cancer in his head. He is very old."] Born in Guilford Co., N.C.; son of Simon and Judith Reeves Moon. Married on Oct. 21, 1815. Father of: Nancy, Lorenzo Dowe, Milo Harvey, Eli Stanfield, William Riley, Elmina, and Anson H. Moon.
