| Other | Age 39. Born in Clinton Co., Ohio; daughter of Thomas and Theodate Vernon Barnett. Married first husband on Aug. 17, 1833 in Marion Co., Ind. They had 7 children: Lewis, Thomas, Matilda, Theodate, Jane, Mary Ann, and William. Husband died in 1847. Three years later, she married Mr. Ballard, on Oct. 26, 1850. He was a widower with four children. She lived only 11 months after this marriage and the children had to be separated. She knew she did not have long to live so she gave the children away before her death. |
