| Other | John Plunket, age about 46, living with his family South-west of the Bethel community [living 3 miles South-east of Monrovia] committed suicide, by hanging, Monday. "Committed Suicide -- John Plunkett, of the Bethesda neighborhood, in the vicinity of Gasburg, committed suicide Monday. His body was found by his wife, hanging. His father also committed suicide. His brother committed suicide, by shooting himself in the head, several years ago, and an uncle committed suicide, by hanging." [From the Martinsville Republican for June 15, 1876: "John Plunkett of Brown Township, a young man 24 years old, was taken to the Insane Asylum Tuesday.
