| Other | Age 83. Born March 24, 1795, in Monongahela County, Virginia. Parents: Elijah Harryman and Hannah Salomey Kratzer. Married Mary Thompson at Palestine in Lawrence County on Jan. 24, 1817. Samuel was a chairmaker, and a veteran of the War of 1812: he was a private in the Rangers, U.S. Volunteers. Tombstone says: "Co. of U.S. Mtd. Ragers" (sic). One of the oldest pioneers of Morgan County. For 20 years a contractor in U.S. mail service, running stage lines; did brick work all around this area; was first Sheriff of Hendricks County. Father of 8 children, only 2 of whom survive him. Member of M.E. Church. |
