He saw action in the Philippine theatre in WW II, and in Korea where he was a survivor of the Chosin Reservoir. He also served as a United Nations Truce Mediator in the Arab-Israli Conflict. For these he was awarded a Silver Star, The Bronze Star, The Purple Heart, The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign with four Bronze Stars, the Korean Medal with five Bronze Service Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge. |
