Other Age 71 years and 18 days. He was a carpenter and a farmer. Born in Pennsylvania; son of Alexander and Elizabeth Cox. "William Cox Sr. died very suddenly at his residence in Centerton last Friday the 28th. His death was caused by an apoplectic stroke." [Morgan County Will Abstracts, 1847-1887 gives this information: "William Cox of Centerton. Wf: Eliza's daus., Laurissa Noble, Celinda Record, Martha Jane Cox; sons, Perry Cox, Clayton Cox, deceased, Clayburn Cox, deceased; grandson, Walter Noble."] "William Cox was the foremost carpenter and cabinet-maker in the county in 1832...Specimens of his work can still be seen in houses built sixty years ago, and you cannot slip a hair in the joints of the panel doors today. His wife -- Aunt Eliza, as she was usually called -- was among the best beloved women in the world. They raised a large family, most of whom fell victims at an early age to that common destroyer, consumption. The old folks closed out their long and useful lives at Centerton." (Source: Noah J.
