| Other | Age 48. Died suddenly of a heart attack. Parents: Cyrus and Flora Robbins Rariden. Member of the Friends Church. Employed at the State Highway Garage. Found dead in his room by Officer Leonard Horton. Brothers Frank and Charles preceded him in death. Funeral services held at Carlisle Chapel, conducted by Rev. Kenneth Pickering. Burial at Mooresville Cemetery. [From the Mooresville Times for July 14, 1916: "Claude Rariden was rendered unconscious Monday morning when he was kicked by a horse. He was just beginning to curry the animal when it kicked him in the bowels. Two men carried him to the house and a physician was summoned. Later in the day he was brought to his mother's, Mrs. Flora Rariden's, home in town, and is able to be around some."] ["...the Rariden brothers, Claude and Frank, were big men. So big that when riding in their touring car, one would ride in front on the driver's side and the other in the back on the opposite side. Claude, living over Denny Moore's restaurant, died, and he was so big they couldn't get him down the stairs. Jake Mann with his crew took him out the window."
