| Other | Age 96. He was the last surviving Civil War veteran of Morgan County [Co. M, 21 Ind.] "It was in the far south that Mr. Nelson spent the days during the Civil War. Born near Rushville, he joined the 21st Indiana Regiment Heavy Artillery in 1863, when 17 years old. He was sent by way of Washington to Louisiana, and was stationed there and in Alabama and Florida during most of his service. He remembers particularly the Siege of Mobile...He came to Mooresville in the spring of 1882, and has lived in the same place, at the corner of Indiana and South Streets, since then.
