Survived By	Son, Gordon Dawes of Indianapolis, at whose home he died unexpectedly. (A son, Cyril Dawes, was killed when a train hit the car he was riding in at Bolton Avenue, when he was 16 years old.)
Other	Left his homeland of England in 1915 and went to Canada; became a U.S. citizen 5 years later. Came to Mooresville in 1925, and operated a monument shop for 19 years. He created the monument for the grave of John Dillinger in Crown Hill Cemetery. Funeral at Friendly Church of the Nazarene on Ry Street and Holmes Avenue in indianapolis.
